What is The Dental Wand STA System?

The Wand is essentially a dental injection managed by a computer. After having a bad experience with an injection it might be easy to think that needles sting because the skin is pierced, but this is usually not the case. Generally, the stinging sensation is caused by the anaesthetic being put in too quickly.

With the Wand, the flow rate of the local anaesthetic is computer-controlled. This means the injection is guaranteed to be slow and steady and therefore comfortable.

Dentists can manually control the speed of a standard syringe. But the Wand takes out the “human error”. Many patients who have had a bad experience with injections find this very reassuring.

What are the benefits?

The Wand looks non-threatening and research suggests that it causes less anxiety than any other injection method.
The precise control of pressure and flow rate reliably produces a comfortable injection – even in potentially more difficult areas like the palate.
